noble son the soga lineage has only been considered a wealthy family in relatively recent years. even now, their legitimacy as a noble family is questioned by other, more august family lines. ieteru is the only son of the soga family, and has had his entire future decided for him since the day he came into the world. unlike his two sisters, ieteru's upbringing had always been incredibly strict—particularly from his father. much was expected from him as a boy, as it was he who would further expand the influence of the soga name.a stolen heirloom in the late bell of a cool autumn evening, ieteru made a choice that there would be no turning back from. the lineage he would carry, the responsibilities he would take on, and the wealthy lifestyle he had lived his whole life—all were forever dashed in that single night. before leaving the family estate for the final time, ieteru stole the artifact that had been largely responsible for his family's rise: an odachi containing within its blade a dangerous power. ieteru's training had much to do with wielding the weapon when the time was deemed necessary for him. But on this night, he would take the weapon for himself. A final insult to his father before escaping for the mainland in othard.

golden-eyed glower ‣ even in his youth, ieteru was always known for that moody look in his eyes. other wealthy families—especially the parents—whispered about and teased the boy for his seriousness. this wasn't the temperament of a child! where was his smile, his laughter? later into his early adulthood, ieteru had garnered a reputation as the scowling son of the soga lineage. the only crack in his stony expression took the form of a sideways scar along his left cheek: a permanent reminder of the price of disobedience.hingashi in his blood ‣ tradition and culture are inescapable parts of life in hingashi. for ieteru, dressing properly has always been a priority, as was instilled in him since a young age. status, and the appearance of such, is everything. to that end, ieteru always wears traditional far eastern garb, albeit of quite expensive quality. his personal preference is wearing hues of golds or red—colors antithetical to his otherwise dour disposition.

there's no mistaking it: this young man hails from the far east. whether its his choice of clothing, his weapon, or even the obvious accent in his speech, it would be clear to anyone that ieteru is from the far east.eldest son of soga ‣
those who hail from hingashi may have heard about the soga family's recent happenings. their only son, who was being groomed to become the patriarch of the family, fled in the night. is that him there? he's certainly far from his home in bukyo, if so. would the soga family pay handsomely for his capture?other ‣

the sky pirate ‣ marooned in yanxia after her manacutter made a crash landing, the seeker and ieteru came to a tenuous agreement to help one another. in exchange for helping j'umi scrounge up enough gil to repair her ship, she would take the hingan away from the far east. however, through some divine trickery, an amulet the pair discovered while scavenging the ruins of doma inexplicably linked their souls. they are now cursed—one cannot be far from the other, lest they both perish. it is up to them to put aside their differences and find a way to break their curse. with how much the two bicker and annoy one another, such a task is easier said than done...

the soga patriarch ‣ a man of unbending principles, emon soga possesses a ruthless determination to fulfill his dream for his family's future. the grim patriarch raised his only son and eldest child ieteru to become a brutal weapon for the family's goals. however, with ieteru having stolen the family odachi while fleeing hingashi, emon has no choice but to send his own men to hunt down his son and retrieve the blade. emon had once demonstrated to ieteru the price of disobedience. with this second act of rebellion from ieteru, there is little room for mercy in emon's heart. if ieteru is captured, there is no telling what the consequences will be...
